The governorship election petition tribunal has upheld the election of Nasir El-Rufai as the elected governor of Kaduna state. Channels TV reports that Justice Ibrahim Bako who is the chairman of the three-man tribunal delivered the judgement on Monday, September 9. The tribunal said Isah Ashiru who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was unable to prove his allegations of rigging labelled against Governor El-Rufai.

In the petition filed before the tribunal, the PDP candidate alleged that “irregularities trailed the conduct of the March 9, governorship election and asked the tribunal to declare him winner of the election.” The tribunal said the PDP candidate was unable to provide factual evidence to support his allegation.
