Suspected bandits have killed at least seven policemen in an ambush near Zonai village in Magami District in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to sources, the policemen were returning from duty where they mount­ed a check point near Zonai village along Gusau-Maga­mi-Dansadau Road on Mon­day when the bandits opened fire on the vehicle conveying them.
“It is a very sad develop­ment especially for us in Magami town because the policemen had tremendous­ly helped in stabilising the horrific security situation in this axis.

“In fact, their presence at that checkpoint had boosted the confidence of the travel­lers to ply that road. Dozens of travellers have been killed or kidnapped along the 50km Gusau-Magami road. It is re­ally sad and tragic,” Halliru, a resident, said.
Gunmen Kill Air Vice Marshal, Grandson In Kaduna
Similarly, Mohammed Maisaka, a retired Air Vice Marshal and his grandson were shot dead in Kaduna.
Daily Independent learnt that the AVM was killed in Rigasa, a community in Ig­abi Local Government Area of the state.

It was reported that the 27-year-old grandchild, Mo­hammed Musa, an Airman, was his grandfather’s order­ly.

Daily Independent gath­ered that gunmen stormed their residence located around Markarfi Road in Ri­gasa about 8:30p.m on Mon­day and shot the two at closed range.
The deceased’s wife, Haji­ya Fatima Maisaka, disclosed that the gunmen did not take anything from the house.

According to her, “They only came into the parlour and killed them both without taking any of our belongings. In fact, they left our phones with us.”

Air Vice Marshal Maisaka is said to be the MD of MSK Specialist Hospital, Makarfi Road, Rigasa.
He left behind his wife, children and aged mother.
